Only Three Weeks Left in Govt FY 2025!

There are only three weeks left in the federal government’s 2025 fiscal year.

If you’re a government contractor, you’re either rushing to get your last-minute orders in or you’re planning for the 2026 fiscal year.

If you’re looking to upgrade your management and accounting infrastructure, here are some key pathways and timelines for you to take into consideration:

  • Right now, you should be reviewing and short-listing systems that can integrate your contracts with your accounting and timekeeping, generate invoices, and eliminate the clutter of spreadsheets now managing your indirect rates and invoices.
  • In September, you should select your new system, plan your implementation, and begin user training.
  • In October, you should be configuring your system with your indirect rate pools, setting up contracts, uploading employees and vendor data, and configuring your timesheet portal.
  • November is testing time. Have a pilot group use the timesheets. Test the interfaces with your payroll service and bank. Run some test invoices.
  • In December, communicate with employees. Training and more testing. Happy Holidays!
  • January is your time for “going live”, running parallel with your old system. Preparation is the key to making your parallel run brief but thorough.
  • By February, your year-end info is loaded. The system is generating live invoices and producing accurate reports.

Allow for “Murphy’s Law”. We all know how one important proposal can impact all other project schedules. Avoid long slips that would have you doing catch-up data entry months into the new year.
